  2. animal rescue can be simple, sometimes

Meet Ivy, the newest arrival at The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary.

Until a few ago, Ivy lived tied up at a holiday park, at which she was subjected every day to people poking at her and kids throwing lemons at her. According to her “caretakers,” she was becoming more aggressive. (Not surprising?!)

With a quick email to the holiday park, the owners replied that they needed a new home for Ivy and were planning to get rid of her. After a bit of traveling, she came home to The Black Sheep.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask - people may recognize that their pet could be in a better situation, but won’t do anything about it until the better situation is offered. (Or they may be twits and not care either way.) But, by providing an alternative that’s better for everyone involved, sometimes animal rescue is straightforward and almost simple.* Ivy gets a new home that is better able to provide her with the things she needs for a happy life, and her previous owners are freed of the responsibility of taking care of a goat they couldn’t provide for.

We’ll be working on building goat fencing this week so Ivy will have a paddock in which to run and play.

*Obviously, it would be ideal if animals didn’t need to be rescued.
